REGISTRATION BEGINS FEBRUARY 15, 2013 

The largest music competition in Illinois - The Granquist Music Competition is presented as part of the Geneva, Illinois Swedish Days Festival presented by Cadence Health June 18 - 23, 2013, and hosted by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

The Granquist Tradition established in 1970 by Herb Granquist - a dedicated music educator - promotes music performance, competition and education. It is now one of the largest music contests in the State of Illinois, and has a reputation for excellence in judging and performance.

The 43rd Annual Music Competition will be on Saturday, June 22, 2013, 8:00 a.m. at Geneva Community High School, 416 McKinley Avenue, Geneva, Illinois.

Entry Deadline
Online applications must be received by May 24, 2013.
Mailed applications must be postmarked by May 20, 2013.

Judging
Judges are selected from area musicians.  All are highly qualified, with degrees in music and music performance.  Their credentials are available at the time of the contest.

Judging is based on a point scale with 100 being perfect.  There is a possibility of up to 5 additional points added for difficulty of music (given at the discretion of the judge).  The top three scores in each class are awarded first, second and third place trophies.  There is an opportunity for contestants who exceed the performing level of their class to receive an outstanding trophy (given at the discretion on of the judge).
